The State BJP on Jharkhand’s 20th foundation day has decided to identify and felicitate persons who played an active role in Jharkhand movement.
State BJP president, Deepak Prakash today congratulated people of state on its foundation day and said, “Today is a very important and pious day. The day coincides with the foundation day of the State and birth anniversary of martyr Birsa Munda.”
He said, “Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee played an active role in creation of a separate state in 2000. I express my homage to former Prime Minister Vajpayee for his contribution in creating a separate state.”
“The party will identify and felicitate those persons and their family members who played a key role in separate statehood from 1912 to 2000. In the creation of a separate state (Jharkhand) millions of people played an important role and the contribution is not limited to only one family (Soren),” added Prakash.
On the 20th foundation day, state BJP president and BJP legislative party leader Babulal Marandi paid floral tributes to Birsa Munda and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The BJP workers and leaders on the occasion are also celebrating foundation day at all district headquarters by paying tributes to Birsa Munda.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of state separate statehood and birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to tribal leader Birsa Munda and said his contribution to the freedom movement and social harmony will always inspire the countrymen.
In a tweet, PM Modi said Birsa Munda was a true messiah for the poor and always fought for the deprived and disadvantaged sections of the society. Born in 1875 in present-day Jharkhand, Birsa Munda had challenged the British rule and is credited with mobilising tribals against the empire. He died in British custody at a young age of 25 years.
The state of Jharkhand officially came into being on Birsa Munda's birth anniversary in 2000. PM Modi also greeted the people of the state on its foundation day and wished them happiness, prosperity and good health.
