BJP targets State Govt for tribal atrocities

The State BJP unit on the death anniversary of freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda, popularly referred as Dharti Aaba,  organised several functions such as holding tribute programmes in 500 tribal villages in State among others. However, the main function was held at State BJP headquarter where BJP ST morcha cell organised Ulgulan ceremony.

The keynote speaker, of the function was union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda, addressing party workers virtually from Delhi. Shedding light on the life and contribution of Dharti Aaba', former chief minister Arjun Munda said that Birsa Munda raised his voice against the British exploitation. The Khunti MP said that BJP is determined to realize the dream of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He said that more than 10 crore tribals live in this country. The Constitution of this county has protected the rights of tribals under the ninth schedule of the Constitution. The President of the country too has been made guarantor of tribal rights under Article 242 of Constitution. Apart from these constitutional provisions, the tribal rights are also protected through Tribal Advisory Committee (TAC).

While discussing the rights of the tribals, Munda said that the tribal society of the State has to understand how the present state government is killing tribal rights. The time has come to create awareness among tribal society. Targeting the JMM/Congress government, he said that efforts are made by the present government to make TAC toothless and in such a situation the responsibility of tribal society is to raise their voice against government unconstitutional acts.

Highlighting the work carried out by the Modi government for tribal development, Arjun Munda said that the Central government will start work at 36,000 model villages and Eklavya schools in each block. He said that the Ministry has planned to make 36000 villages as Adarsh Grams. These villages will have all basic infrastructures including focus on education, health, drinking water, network system among other facilities.

Every year 7000 villages will be made Adarsh Gram. The decision to build one Eklavya Vidyalaya in each block on the lines of Navodaya Vidyalaya for tribal children has been taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Echoing the views of Arjun Munda, State BJP president Deepak Prakash said that only BJP can aspire to fulfill the dreams of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Prakash said that BJP's resolve is for complete development of tribals. Jharkhand cannot develop unless tribals are developed. In the interest of the tribal society, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee did the work of creating a separate ministry for the tribal society. Jharkhand was given the status of a separate state.

The BJP chief targeting the State government said that atrocities against tribal people have gone up in the present regime, but the present government is keeping silent over such atrocities. Targeting the JMM government he said that the maximum number of rape incidents of tribal women have been reported in JMM Congress government. In the Roopa Tirkey case also, the present government is working to protect the killers.
