BJP stir brings power to H'bagh village, finally

The stir spearheaded by senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha for the last three years finally brought electricity to Base Resham village, hardly 10 km from here, on Thursday.

Sinha, who along with several BJP workers, were released from jail went straight to the village to inaugurate the electrification of the village by switching on the two newly installed transformers.  The JSEB officials were also present on the occasion.

“The electrification of Base Resham village after a long drawn agitation and jail for 16 days clearly speaks that the government of Jharkhand has no interest in solving problems of general people and the officials of this state are inactive,” Sinha said. “It is really unfortunate but if problems can be solved in this way then I am ready to go to jail thousand times for public cause,” the former Union Finance Minister said at a public meeting held at the village after the inauguration of electrification work.

Earlier, in the jail campus Sinha told newsmen that his struggle should not be linked with any ambition. “The post of Chief Minister is not a matter of attraction for me as I have served and enjoyed working on several higher posts of this country in my life,” he maintained.

Sinha alongwith 52 party workers had been jailed on June 3 for allegedly assaulting a senior JSEB official.

“The party workers had started the agitation for electrification of Base Resham village about three years back and I too tried my best but no one took it seriously. Complaints against the working pattern and irregularities in the electricity department were regularly coming to me. So we decided to hit the streets which finally resulted into power reaching the village,” said Sinha.

Hailing the villagers for their continuous support and patience, Sinha said that the agitation which has started from the village has now spread in entire state and his party has decided to fight for every such village of the State.

Earlier, the former union minister alongwith 52 BJP workers came out of JP Central Jail at about 1 p.m. Yesterday the CJM court had granted bail to them but due to delay in preparing the papers the release order reached to jail authorities this morning. In jail too it took about four hours to complete the formalities and other paper works.
