Despite notification issued for the third phase of lok Sabha elections nomination in the four parliamentary constituencies appear to be extremely sluggish with only one nomination filed since March 15, the date of notification.
After a lull of three days since notification, State Bhartiya Janata Party president Ravindra Kumar Rai was the lone candidate to file nomination on Tuesday morning. Rai filed nomination from Kodarma parliamentary constituency which will go to polls on April 10. “This election is decisive for the country. This is an opportunity to liberate this country from Congress and make BJP’s Government in the leadership of Narendra Modi,” said Rai.
Interestingly, no nomination has been filed in rest of the parliamentary constituencies — Chatra, Palamu, lohardaga — scheduled to go to poll on April 10 in third phase of lS elections despite some parties even naming their candidate for few constituencies. The last date for filing nomination for third phase is March 22. The Congress which has been dragging its feet over other naming candidates for constituencies of third phase is likely to see some progress in filing nomination. Notably, the Congress’ candidate from lohardaga parliamentary
constituency, Rameshwar Oraon, will be filing nomination on Wednesday at Gumla. “He (Rameshwar) will file nomination in the presence of JPCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat,” said Congress Spokesperson Shailesh Sinha.
Incidentally, the Congress announced the names of its candidates for Chatra and Koderma constituencies. While Dhiraj Prasad Sahu will contest from Chatra, Tilakdhari Prasad Singh will be party’s candidate from Kodarma parliamentary constituency. Sahu is also sitting Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand.
