After bagging 12 out of 14 seats in Jharkhand during the lok Sabha Elections, the state BJP workers are now fastening their belts for the upcoming Assembly elections to accomplish mission 41 plus at any cost. The BJP unit will also hold state level meeting on June 12 to chalk out the strategy to be adopted during the Assembly elections.
“The party will sit on June 12 for the first time to discuss poll preparations on the Assembly elections and the issues to be raised during Assembly elections in the state,” said state BJP spokesperson Pradeep Sinha. Crisis of electricity and water definitely will be an issue during these Assembly elections, added Sinha.
According to Sinha, the party is presently focusing on the Mayoral elections to be held on June 23. Former Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Maroo also said that the preparations will be formally started after state president Ravindra Rai returns form Delhi after attending the parliament session in Delhi.
“Although preparations are on at the organizational level, it will get a kick-start after the meeting on June 12,” said Maroo. The meeting is crucial as some important decisions will be taken regarding the polls, he added.
Party insiders however, revealed that a consensus has already been formed on going it alone in the Assembly elections without having any pre-poll understanding with any other party to achieve the target of mission 41 plus for BJP.
“To achieve mission 41 plus in the forthcoming Assembly elections party workers are looking at the Sangh to take some substantial decisions so that the BJP comes out as a single largest party,” said a senior party leader not willing to disclose his name.
In the view of the emerging internal dispute and lobbying inside the party, it has become the need of the hour to interfere and revive its organizational structure, he said.
Maroo however, said that the Sangh Pariwar only plays a role of a guide with minimal interference in the party’s affairs.
Despite objections, projecting Asha lakra as Mayoral candidate for Ranchi itself is a sign that the centre has plunged into state politics for the revival of party image, insiders said.
Referring the recent statement of actor turned politician Shatrughna Sinha that the former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha has all qualification to become the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, he said that Sinha does not even qualify for the post as a consensus has already been made at the centre to not entrust a responsible post to those who have attained an age of 72 years.
The party workers already annoyed with the pool of leaders from other parties joining BJP in order to secure tickets for them, also expect that such practices must be checked in order to win the confidence of the workers, he added.
like the lok Sabha elections, sitting MlAs are likely to be given another chance by the party while constituencies where the party candidates lost the elections may be replaced with some new faces,” said a senior leader.
“Party will focus on those 64 constituencies where party has won at least once in the last 14 years so that we can secure at least 75 per cent seats in the elections,” he added.
A committee is also to be formed which will try to remove the shortcomings of the party during the lok Sabha elections and try to placate the dissatisfied workers and leaders before the Assembly Polls.
