BJP seeks white paper on frequent murders

Calling the incumbent Government “shameless”, State BJP on Thursday expressed deep concern on increasing rate of crimes in the State and demanded a white paper from Government on the issue. It called for immediate attention of the Government on decreasing law and order situation in the State and sought clarification from the ruling coalition.

Talking to mediapersons at party office here, State BJP president Ravindra Rai said that it was shameful that the Government was not able to discharge its primary duty of providing security to people and their property. “Situation of Ranchi Division is the worst in terms of law and order. Criminals and extremists are most active and Ranchi and adjacent districts and resultantly poor and innocent people are being killed,” Rai said.

The State party president also presented statistics of murders taken place in past 3-4 months in Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, lohardaga and Simdega districts. “Total 37 murders had taken place in the month of June in these five districts but out of these 37 only two cases were shown as Naxal related murder. Other murders were called as ‘general murder’. In July out of 46 murders, 40 were general murders and in August out of 60 murders 51 were general murders according to the Government. This is so bizarre that the Government is even trying to hide the murders taking place,” Rai said.

“I feel these murders are actually being done by extremists and their criminal aides. Calling a murder ‘general’ gives us a notion that the Government is assuming it to be a part of our social life.

This is shameful. Moreover, the Government has not given compensation of Rs 3 lakh to kins of murdered persons in last one year. The BJP demands the Government to become sensitive to the issue and provide proper compensation and jobs to the affected people,”

he added.

Rai demanded a white paper on murders by the Government stating how many murders had taken place during the present regime and how many criminals have been caught apart from the statistics of compensation being

provided to people.

“I have decided that I will sit with the affected people on one day fast on November 26 near Mahatma Gandhi statue at Morhabadi to seek justice,”

he said.

Rai Also mocked at the Government for not being able to stop terror activities in State. “The contribution of State Government in exposing nexus of Patna Blasts case is negligible. Due to the carefree attitude of the government Jharkhand has become the biggest pasture of the country for terrorists, extremists and criminals,” he said.
