BJP seeks probe on religious polarization

A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday met Chief Electoral Officer L Khiangte and demanded prevention of polarization of votes in the name of religion by a particular political party in Khunti Parliamentary constituency.

The State BJP Spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said that since last three days the State BJP has been informing the commission regarding the polarization of votes on the name of religion by particular political party.

“But at present the political party is polarizing the votes on the basis of religion. According to inputs received from the constituency, Congress candidate has written a letter to religious leaders claiming that the party will spend a large sum of money for this work. There should be high level enquiry on the authenticity of the letter also,” said Shahdeo.

The delegation has sought strict actions against political parties involved in polarizing votes in the name of religion.
