Raising the communal clashes of Chanho in the House vociferously, the BJP demanded the State Government to order a CBI probe into it. Soon after the Assembly resumed on Saturday members of the party alleging malicious role of ‘outsiders’ into the clashes, which caused one death, trooped into the well and forced three adjournments without much business being transacted in the morning session.
Ranchi MlA CP Singh first raised the matter and got supported by Umashankar Akela, Menka Sardar, Satyanand Jha ‘Batul’, Amit Yadav and others. The MlAs even sat on dharna inside the House that prompted Speaker Shanshank Shekhar Bhokta to seek a reply from the Government. Though, the matter continued as no reaction coming from the Government as it maintained that a special debate on law and order had been fixed for August 4.
The response made leader of Opposition Arjun Munda to intervene. “Is this the way to answer our worriesIJ This has made the reputation of the House to suffer.” Continued pandemonium forced the Speaker to adjourn the House. later, speaking to mediapersons, CP Singh alleged that people from outside the area had played a spoilsport and fuelled tension in Chanho, 40 kilometres from here last week.
“People from outside were involved. The plot for the riot was prepared well in advance. It was a pre-planned incident and the Government did not act despite having information. Now they are acting against petty officers,” said the MlA, pushing further for the CBI investigation.
Besides, the entire first half of the day wasted as JMM legislator and former Minister in the Hemant Government Simon Marandi raised threat to his life citing July 23 attack on him in his constituency littipara. BJP also came in support of the MlA.
“Over 150 armed people attacked me and the administration kept mum. Who was behind this all thisIJ I know that all this has happened on the indications of the Government. Why this Government is brazenly doing this against a tribal MlAIJ What is my faultIJ Is it because I have decided to quit JMMIJ,” asked fuming Marandi and demanded a DGP-led investigation into entire matter.
later, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Singh announced that the incident would be investigated by the DGP and a report would be presented by August 5. Marandi is said to be in touch with the BJP and he also accepted this outside the House. “I have no other way left for me.”
later, the House passed with voice vote the Supplementary Budget of Rs 1,956 crore which was opposed by JVM’s Pradeep Yadav. He pulled up the Government for seeking more money without expenses; focus of spending Centrally-sponsored schemes and growing size of non-plan. BJP’s Raghubar Das said that against average 32 per cent expenditure in four months the Government had been able to use just four per cent. “Ministers are running the Government just for their earnings. They have realised that death bell has rung for regional parties and they are not going to come again in the Government,” said Das.
