The BJP won both the mayor and deputy mayor seats in Medininagar and scripted a new political address for the party here as Aruna Shanker who became the mayor on lotus symbol was in her maiden venture while for the deputy mayor Mangal Singh whose real name is Rakesh K Singh it was his second bid in public life and he came through in the multi-cornered contest here.
The posh house of Anand Shanker husband of the lady mayor and president of the Palamu chamber of commerce & Industries will now be the hub of party activities.
The victory of the BJP on two seats is a total washout for the Congress, JMM, JVM, RJD and BSP as there was AJSU too in the poll fray.
The Congress is the worst sufferer here. Its state president Ajay Kumar will have to think his fancy and whims cost the party here too much said a Congress leader begging for anonymity saying this man made a wrong selection of the candidate here. As for JMM JVM RJD and BSP cursing BJP only fell only their faces as the voters just did not take them seriously.
Sources said the new Mayor had not seen the whole of Daltonganj even through sitting in her cozy car but in election she proved her merit and mettle when she walked and walked with grace without showing any sign of fatigue.
