After days of war of words among party leaders following nomination of new State unit chief Ravindra Rai, senior BJP leaders today put up a united face at a meeting in Hazaribagh, calling upon the people to give full majority to the saffron brigade for the “complete development” of the State.
The occasion was a party workers’ meeting at Barkattha, some 50 km from Hazaribagh where former Chief Minister Arjun Munda alongwith Rai shared dais with senior party leader Yashwant Sinha.
It was the second meeting of the party workers held to connect with the grassroots workers and prepare them to face the forthcoming elections after Rai took over the charge. Over 1,000 workers took part in the meet. Incidentally, the first such meeting, held at Jarmundi had created heartburns in the hearts of several party leaders.
Munda, significantly, had met Sinha in New Delhi yesterday and is said to have cleared the confusion created among the party cadres following Rai’s appointment. The former Chief Minister is also reaching out other leaders, who have expressed unhappiness over the new party president’s appointment, to take them
on board.
No wonder the overriding spirit of the all the leaders, who spoke on the occasion was: “Time is ours, so forget everything and march forward to achieve the goal of PM & CM of BJP this time.”
Sinha, who represents Hazaribagh in the lok Sabha, said that the UPA II government is counting its days. “The public is in a mood to reject it because it has not only made a record of sorts on increasing prices of essential commodities and encouraging corruption but also lowered the pride of the nation in the world,” he maintained.
Maintaining that the
coalition Government has ruined the State, Sinha said that Jharkhand now needs a single party majority government for proper development of
the State.
The senior BJP leader said that the regional parties cannot fulfill the aspirations of the people. “So we have to work hard to have a majority government in Jharkhand, he pointed out.
He also coined a slogan “choose us for complete development” apparently offering a poll plank to the workers for the forthcoming elections.
He called upon the workers to be ready for an agitation if assembly polls do not take place before July 19 this year.
Munda, on this occasion, predicted that a BJP worker will occupy the Prime Minister’s chair this time.
Recounting his bitter experience of running a coalition government, he said that the regional parties remain more interested in leg pulling than development. “For a rich and prosperous Jharkahnd, it is necessary that we should start working hard from now to ensure majority for the BJP in the next assembly polls,” he said.
State BJP president Rai stressed upon strengthening of booth level committees of the party and discussed with the workers about the strategies for the forthcoming elections. He said that our leadership is aiming to have a majority in both Parliament as well as assembly so we will have to work hard to achieve the goal.
He believed that the party will get two third seats in both Parliament and assembly because public’s mood is against UPA as well as the regional parties and we will have to present ourselves as the best alternative.
Barkattha BJP MlA Amit Kumar, who convened the party workers’ meet, assured the leaders that the party workers will not leave any stone unturned to ensure the party’s success in the elections.
