Amid criticism from the Opposition, the Bharatiya Janta Party has decided to celebrate one-year at the helm in a grand style. The celebration coined as ‘Jan Kalyan Parv’ apparently to reject the Opposition’s charges of the BJP being anti-people in its policies will be celebrated throughout the remaining days of May.
The party expressed that those who voted Narendra Modi-led Government at the Centre should be given the details of works done during the tenure of one-year and for that ministers in BJP-ruled States, members of Parliament and members of legislative assembly will establish direct communication link with people of Jharkhand.
Speaking on the occasion of one-year at the helm, BJP national vice-president, Vinay Shahastrabuddhe said party leaders while keeping in heart the themes of ‘one–year many achievements’ will hold public rallies, conferences and media conclaves to convey achievements of the BJP Government in one-year. Addressing media at Ranchi, Shahastrabuddhe said around 15-crore bank accounts have been opened under PM Jan Dhan Yojna and now insurance schemes have been started for the development of poor people.
The BJP would initiate massive public relations exercise and projected skill development programmes as the key to fight poverty.
As the party is drawing flak from the opposition against the amended land Acquisition Bill, it tried the turn the tables on the opposition by counter claims of the act being pro-poor and necessary to defeat poverty. The BJP sought to present the proposed bill in a different way to justify their pro-people stand.
Shahastrabuddhe said that the bill (land Acquisition Bill) should in reality be called ‘liberty for land use’ bill and many small-large projects are pending because of land and this bill will help in overcoming all hurdles.
However, the confidence of the BJP in seeing the bill through both the Houses of Parliament appeared a bit low as the senior BJP leader entrusted by the central leadership to awaken people of Jharkhand about achievements of 365 days, expressed that the land bill may fail to pass through Rajya Sabha because of overwhelming number of opposition in the upper house.
Even as Shahastrabuddhe patted the back of the central Government for apparent pro-people policies, he said that the party is still firm on its stand of leaving the prices of petroleum on open market and the consequences, good and bad, will be for everyone to see. The BJP leader explained the Government’s initiative to control prices and said the Government has formed price stabilisation fund to control inflation.
