Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Monday said that the decision of BJP MLAs not to participate in the TAC meeting chaired by Chief Minister, Hemant Soren on Monday is unfortunate and against the interests of the tribal community of Jharkhand.
Addressing a press meet, JMM Spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said that whenever the coalition Government of JMM, Congress and RJD talks about the protection and development of tribals and indigenous people, BJP leaders feel pain in their stomach and in anyway they start obstructing the development work. He said that the role of TAC is very important in the development of tribal society, first it has been suppressed by Raj Bhavan for months at the behest of BJP leaders and when the State Government paved the way for the formation of TAC by handing over the right of nomination of members from the Governor to the Chief Minister under the new rules, the BJP leaders are not able to digest this and create various obstacles in the development of tribals.
Raising the fingers on former Chief Minister, Babulal Marandi’s argument for not participating in the meeting the party Spokesperson said that BJP leaders today boycotted the TAC meeting, arguing that the Chairman of this committee should not be the Chief Minister but should be a tribal. Now even the common people are not able to understand this, when Chief Minister Hemant Soren himself is a tribal, then for what reason BJP members objected and boycotted the meeting. The BJP leaders also said that there is no women member in the committee, they should know that Jama MLA Sita Soren is also a member of TAC, he added.
“In the previous BJP Government, TAC meetings were held under the chairmanship of the then Chief Minister Raghubar Das, but they had not objected to the TAC meeting under the chairmanship of non-tribal BJP at that time,” said Bhattacharya. He also said that BJP is calling the formation of TAC unconstitutional, but this rule was changed in the then BJP Government in Chhattisgarh. He said that the BJP leaders should play the role of a positive Opposition instead of obstructing the development work.
