BJP Ministers' 'darbar' gets lukewarm response

The BJP Karyakarta Darbar, expected to pacify the party workers, who are said to be upset with the Government on various issues, and also to solve their unheard problems elsewhere in administration, has appeared not to be taken as seriously by the workers as it was assumed.

Despite two Ministers present to hear problems of workers on Thursday, only 26 complainants in total appeared to seek help. Even among them, more than half were common complainants not directly associated with the party.

However, both the ministers present to take problems of complainants on Thursday, Health Department Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi and Rural Development Minister Neelkanth Singh Munda, defended the very purpose of Karyakarta Darbar which was started in BJP State Headquarters by the order of Chief Minister Raghubar Das last month.

“This is only the start of Darbar, that is why workers have not turned up in good numbers,” said Chandravanshi on Thursday who was approached by merely eight complainants in around three hours he sat for listening to the problems of workers. He was approached by one elderly lady named Tarsisiya Ekka, whose husband Kishore Ekka, a peon in State law Commission died on December 8 last year. Ekka said that her husband had not been paid since November 2013.

Chandravanshi enquired in the Commission about the case from Darbar itself only to be informed that Kishore was a contractual employee who had not been taken on payroll, leaving no space for his family members to claim any compensation. “But as the CM possesses some discretionary financial powers to help someone in need, I have recommended for the same. Now it is the CM who will decide,” said Chandravanshi to the lady.

Though Munda received one and half dozens of complaints related to the issues of roads in rural areas, housing construction, irregularities in furniture purchase and job on compassionate grounds, he too found some leisure time with no complainants around in between. He also said that the turnaround of workers in Darbar would only increase in coming days after they got to know about it.

“It is not that workers are not coming. They are coming and getting solutions of their problems. We have reached up to only 3-4 sittings. let it proceed and we are sure that the purpose will be served,” said Munda. However, he avoided the question of what was the difference between CM Janta Darbar and BJP Workers Darbar with no change in modus operandi.

Meanwhile, Chandravanshi also promised to support a cancer patient with any amount up to Rs 4 lakh from government, as per government provisions for patients with critical diseases. Seeking financial support on behalf of her son Md. Akram who is suffering from tongue cancer for last six months, Kalima Khatoon from Nizamnagar said that Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai had estimated around Rs 3.5 lakh on the treatment of Akram. Chandravanshi said that Jharkhand was among few states to offer such high financial support to anyone suffering from a critical disease.
