BJP launches pamphlet war to clear air over tenancy rows

In a bid to end confusion among people regarding proposed amendments to the CNT and SPT Acts, the State BJP has started ‘Pamphlet War’ as the party on Saturday dropped pamphlets in the remote and distant areas dominated by the tribal population of the State educating people about the benefits of it in the long run.

The State Government received intensive resistance from the Opposition parties and various tribal organisations — including its ally AJSU — following the proposal of amendment to some sections of these Acts in the form of the Ordinance was sent to the centre on June this year for its approval.

“Yes, pamphlets have been prepared by the party specifically depicting what changes are being brought in the CNT and SPT Acts and what Sections are being amended which will be distributed among the party workers to propagate it further to the common people,” said State Spokesperson JB Tubid.

To remove all doubts, it has been mentioned in it that which part of which section was being amended and how people will get benefitted out of it, he added.

Reports coming from different parts of the State confirmed that the pamphlets, also prepared in local dialects other than Hindi, were dropped from glider on Saturdayin Simdega and Khunti districts of the State.

The pamphlet stated that it was the need of the hour to make changes in the law and the State Government was not anti-tribal. It was only taking positive steps towards the welfare of the tribal and the downtrodden.

“Only simplification of some of the sections of CNT and SPT Acts was being done out of which only tribal people will get benefitted in the long run,” it stated. It was further stated that those persons were opposing the move who did not wanted these people to excel in their lives. “They are interested only in their own development,” it said.

It was said through these pamphlets that people who are now opposing the move, had earlier advocated the amendment in these acts. The party also appealed the opposition not to oppose the move for the sake of opposing for political motivations rather they should suggest how uplift of the poor and the downtrodden will be done in this State.
