BJP lauds ‘Mission Shakti’, Opp see pre-poll jitters in PM

The who’s who of Jharkhand lauded India’s Mission Shakti on Wednesday and Chief Minister Raghubar Das was the first to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of the Anti-Satellite (ASAT) missile.

“This achievement is evidence to the country’s fast growing security machinery under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will go down as a historic day in India’s journey towards becoming a superpower,” said Das.

While the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was all praise for the achievement, the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) slammed the centre for balancing its lack of developmental works by boasting of the steps taken to improve country’s security.

BJP’s State President Laxman Gilua said that the achievement has made India proud.

“India has now become the fourth country which can detect and counter low earth orbit satellites. It is a moment of pride for all of us,” he said.

Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Poddar also congratulated the Prime Minister and scientists of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the achievement.

He slammed the opposition parties for raising questions on the achievement of the scientists and the centre.

“The opposition is being childish by questioning the achievement. They did the same at the time of surgical strike and airstrike in Pakistan,” Poddar said.

Congress Spokesperson M Tausif said that the BJP has no figures of achievement which it can present to the people of the country, so it was boasting of improving security measures to seek votes for the elections.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Executive President Hemant Soren took to social media platform Twitter to congratulate the DRDO scientists for the achievement. He, however, took a jibe at Modi for the allegedly hyped announcement.

“Congratulations to our scientists in DRDO for executing successful A-SAT launch. We have always been proud of you and your achievements. However, the PM creating a hyperbole out of it and scripting a thriller surely demonstrates his pre-poll restlessness and tension,” Soren tweeted.

Meanwhile, JPCC President, Dr. Ajoy Kumar retweeted a tweet by the official Twitter handle of Indian National Congress, which tagged Modi’s announcement as “desperation for public approval prior to elections.”
