BJP lambasts Soren Govt for coalition infighting

Published on:

Slamming the Hemant Soren Government for the intra-coalition feud, State BJP president Ravindra Rai on Thursday said it has no moral right to remain in power. He also informed that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the State has been deferred till December due to his prior engagements.

Rai said that the Soren Government has completed only three months, and started suffering from “breathlessness facing uneasiness to run the Government”. “There is nothing like Government in the State; it’s only feud in the name of government,” Rai added. There is all round dissatisfaction over the functioning of the Soren Government among the people of State.

“Even the Ministers in the Government have registered their dissatisfaction over the functioning of the Soren Government several times. The Ministers while being in the Government are creating an impression that they have no hand in running the Government,” he said. In a manner they are distancing themselves from the Chief Minister, which is really a dangerous situation, he added.

Rai said that such a Government has no right to remain in power and the BJP, in order to set up a new arrangement in the upcoming elections, will try highlighting these issues among the people. Commenting on the friction between the Congress and JMM on seat-sharing for the lok Sabha elections, the BJP leader said that both the parties are known for violating the conditions of coalition.

“It is not in their nature to stick to the coalition agreements…. the Government was not formed on the issue of law and order or on the issue of betterment of the State. Rather, it was formed on the issue of lok Sabha seats in the State,” Rai claimed. It raises questions on the credibility of the Government, he added. He also demanded that the original agreement, which was signed during the formation of the Government in July must be made public in the interest of the State. He also expressed concern over the Ministers alleging the bureaucrats of not obeying them. “Both Ministers and bureaucrats in the State are competing each other to show their clout. This is really a shame for a democratic set up,” he said.

Rai, describing the regular visit of State Ministers to Birsa Munda Central Jail to meet former Bihar Chief Minister lalu Prasad as a mockery to democracy and a subject for the court to look into, questioned the Government’s ability to maintain its dignity. “The CM is holidaying in Goa while the Government is in Hotwar jail,” said Rai in a lighter vain. He said that there is no provision of holiday for any CM in the democratic set up.
