The State BJP unit has termed Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) decision to bring new recruitment policy as a decision taken in haste and confusion. JMM general secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharyya has said on Tuesday that the State Government in the upcoming Budget Session will bring a new recruitment policy, under which locals will get preference in government jobs. Bhattacharya claimed that as per the new recruitment policy, third and fourth grade jobs will be reserved for locals.
BJP general secretary, Pradeep Verma reacting on JMM’s plan to bring new recruitment policy said, “The present government activities are confusing and misleading. As per the plan of the new recruitment policy, third and fourth grade jobs will be reserved for locals. The 2016 recruitment policy brought by then Chief Minister Raghubar Das talks about the same, under which government jobs were reserved for locals in respective districts.”
Verma said, “In 2016 as per our recruitment policy government jobs were reserved for locals in 13 districts, in 2018 government jobs were reserved for remaining 11 districts covering all 24 districts under which government jobs were reserved for locals of respective districts in the entire state.”
The BJP leader said that if the present government has to bring the same recruitment policy then why did they roll back the 2016 recruitment policy. However, he said that the new recruitment policy is a welcome step.
BJP’s ally AJSU claimed that the party will go through the recruitment policy then they will take a decision. AJSU spokesperson, Devsharan Bhagat said, “Let the government first bring the recruitment policy then we will take a decision.” However, the AJSU leader said that the JMM/Congress government as per its poll promises should start the appointment process in the government department as JMM/Congress had announced 2021 as year of appointments.
Recently, the State government decided to roll back the 2016 recruitment policy as formulated by then Raghubar Das government. It may be recalled that Jharkhand High Court in September cancelled the recruitment of thousands of teachers and officials that was finalised on a 2016 policy providing 100 per cent reservation for local candidates living in 13 scheduled districts of the State, describing it as a violation of fundamental rights.
The court declared the policy null and void and scrapped the advertisement that was issued to announce the recruitment drive in 2016.
The then government headed by chief minister Raghubar Das had advertised for 17,572 vacancies of teachers in the state in 2016. Of these, the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has so far filled up about 9,000 posts in both scheduled and non-scheduled districts.
