State BJP president Deepak Prakash today attacked the State Government for police lathi-charge on the unarmed BJP workers punching holes in the FIRs registered against Saffron party cadres and leaders. Pradesh addressing a press conference at the party office on Friday said that the police action exposes the barbaric face of the State Government.
He said, “While on one hand unarmed BJP cadres who were protesting against the State Government move of allotment of room at Assembly for offering Namaz were beaten up mercilessly. The police FIR has several loopholes.”
He added, “Incident of lathi-charge took place on Wednesday while the Government registered an FIR in this connection on Thursday.” He added the circle officer of Ranchi Sadar has been made an informant in the case while he was not present at the time of the incident.
Police on Wednesday resorted to lathi charge to stop BJP leaders, who were on their way to gherao the Jharkhand Assembly against the allotment of a separate room for offering ‘namaz’ in the newly constructed Assembly building. Before the lathi charge, water cannons were also used to stop BJP workers who set off towards the Jharkhand Assembly despite prohibitory orders being issued by the district administration in the wake of the ongoing monsoon session.
According to BJP leaders as many as 26 party workers sustained injuries including Party’s Women Front President Arti Kujur, BJP OBC Front President Amardeep Yadav, State BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo, BJP Rural Front office-bearer Mahaveer Singh, woman worker Neelam Choudhary and 22 others.
The BJP protesting against the allotment of room for Namaz has even approached Raj Bhavan and a PIL has been filed at Jharkhand High Court against the Speaker decision. However, on Thursday on the last day of Monsoon session, the BJP constituted a seven member committee headed by senior BJP leader Stephen Marandi to decide on the issue.

State President of BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha and MLA Amar Bauri, while targeting the State government, said that the arrogance of the State Government has started to break down. Referring to the committee constituted to decide on the allocation of Namaz hall, Bauri said that the government had to withdraw after all. He called it a victory for democracy. He said that BJP will not allow Jharkhand to become Afghanistan, despite government atrocities against BJP cadres. On this occasion, he also mentioned the incident in the Assembly saying that he was not allowed to bring the work adjournment motion moved by him.
Deepak Prakash also reacted to the remark made by Chief Minister Hemant Soren regarding the dues of Coal India. Targeting CM he said he is working to weaken the federal structure of the country. “Congress ruled this country for 70 years. I want to know from the Chief Minister how much money was received from Coal India during the UPA regime,” Prakash said.
