The State BJP unit has dared the JMM/Congress Government in State to introduce 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Caste (OBC) on the lines of Centre. State BJP president-cum-Rajya Sabha MP, Deepak Prakash on Monday targeting the State Government said that UPA Government is only playing politics on the issue, urging the State Government to introduce 27 per cent reservation for OBCs.

Prakash said, “If the intentions of the JMM/Congress Government are pure then they should introduce reservation policy on the lines of the Centre in the State.” He further said the Congress party which is pointing fingers at the NDA government over OBC reservation, never gave constitutional status to the Backward Classes Commission, but the Modi Government took the initiative after coming to power.

Be it 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in admission in medical colleges, 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections the BJP government has always taken the initiative.

The press conference was also attended by State General Secretary Aditya Sahu, spokesperson Saroj Singh, State media co-in-charge Ashok Baraik among others. The BJP president also dared the Congress party to make its party president from the OBC category.

The BJP state unit president also raised the issue of slow developmental pace in the State. Prakash said that the present Government has failed miserably on road construction, grain distribution, law and order and other issues in the State.

He said that the State Government has failed to utilize Centre’s funds on road projects. Naming some of the projects, he said  that Centre has already allocated Rs 1522 crore for a four lane project on NH 75, 98 in Palamu, but the project is yet to commence as the State has acquired land for the project. Similarly, work on Barhi-Hazaribagh is suspended despite the Centre allocating the money for the project. Same is the situation on rural roads projects in the State.

He said that Centre has given forest clearance for mining of Hindustan Copper in Musabani, but the project is yet to commence, due to which local youths are facing unemployment. He further said that Jharkhand tops in kidnapping cases as per NCRB data.

At the same time, the state is among the most backward states in terms of development. Rs 572 crores have been received from the Center for the Jal Jeevan Mission. The state has been able to utilize only Rs 134 crores. Deoghar airport is almost ready but the state government is showing apathy in making the approach road.
