A day after the Hemant Soren Government decided to withdraw Hindi as a paper and language from the examination syllabus of Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) the BJP criticised the Government for disrespecting Hindi, which is the official language of the country. The BJP reminded the Government that Hindi is not a foreign language for Jharkhand adding the government is trying to create a linguistic divide in Jharkhand.
BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo who addressed a press conference said the present policy is detrimental to the interest of job aspirants.
“One might have noticed that while Hindi has been dropped Urdu has been kept among regional languages. The fact is that Urdu is not the regional language of Jharkhand. This is a blatant case of appeasement through which the government is trying to polarise minority voters,” Shahdeo said.
He added many regional languages like Maithili and Bhojpuri were excluded despite a sizable population in Jharkhand being the native speakers.
The BJP also questioned the decision of the Cabinet, in which it has been made it necessary for JSSC aspirants from general quota to have passed matriculation examination from any of the schools of Jharkhand.
“It means natives of Jharkhand who are from the general category will be discriminated against in their home State. This is a big joke. This is a blatant violation of the right to equal opportunity,” he said.
Shahdeo said the BJP will start agitation against these divisive policies of the Government and the line of action is being chalked out.
