Former Chief Minister Arjun Munda along with senior BJP leader Saryu Rai, talking to the mediapersons on Saturday, attacked Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed against the removal of Birsa Agricultural University Vice Chancellor in an unconstitutional way. In a bid to corner the JMM-led Hemant Soren Government, the State BJP has also decided to prepare a charge sheet enlisting the failures of the State Government in the last one year on various fronts concerning the welfare of the people and hand it over to the governor on July 16.
Munda condemning the dramatic and unprecedented removal of the Birsa Agricultural University Vice Chancellor MP Pandey by Governor Syed Ahmed, exercising his authority as chancellor of all universities, called it a serious issue which must be brought to the notice of Central Government.“It is a serious issue where a Vice Chancellor is removed for denying to pay the tent house bill of Rose show organised at the Governor House,” Munda said. Resources expected to be used for the research purposes, are being diverted to pay for the tent house bill on the behest of the Governor, he added.
In a dramatic and unprecedented development, Syed Ahmed on June 18 had ordered a “freeze” on the powers of Pandey with immediate effect, a move seen by many as politically motivated and uncalled for.Senior BJP leader Saryu Roy showing the letters forwarded to the BAU VC from Governor’s office asking to pay tent house bills of 2013 Rose show and demanding daily wage labourers for gardening purpose at Governor House alleged that the Governor wanted to take undue advantage by putting pressure on Pandey.
“When Pandey denied fulfilling the demands raised by the Governor House, his powers were seized without giving him a chance to explain,” said Roy.Rai also alleged that the three orders were issued from the Governor House in connection with the removal of VC under section 21 (6) which was later corrected as 21(7) where there is no any such provision of freezing the power of VC without getting probed by not less than a judge of High Court. “After a report of judicial probe is submitted to the Governor, there is provision of seeking explanation from the VC before taking any such action against him,” Roy added.
Roy further said that the decision seems to have been taken under the influence of some Ministers who have taken over the State Government. The freeze of power was taken in the wake of complaints against Pandey, including appointing persons without taking seniority and experience into account, misleading the BAU board of governors and rather curiously, smuggling red sandalwood.
According to a release issued by the Raj Bhawan, allegations were found correct prima facie, and a retired judge of Jharkhand High Court, Vikramaditya Prasad, will now further probe into them.A decision of preparing charge sheet against the present government was taken to be handed over to the Governor later on July 16. Soren Government will be completing one year on July 11.
“As the present Government will be completing one year on July 11, a charge sheet will prepared depicting the failures of the government on the fronts of political, social as well as law and order will be highlighted and handed over to the Governor on July 16,” said former Chief Minster Arjun Munda.Addressing to the core committee members Munda also said that there is not time to take rest, like lok Sabha Elections, its time to put our 100 percent effort during the Assembly elections in order to secure a majority Government in the State also.
