The State BJP has welcomed Government decision to roll back its earlier directives banning Chhath puja celebrations alongside water bodies including public ponds, lakes, rivers, dams, reservoirs in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. State BJP president Deepak Prakash said that this is a victory of public sentiment and devotees, who observe the Mahaparava.
On Tuesday evening the State Government rolled back its earlier decision banning Chhath puja celebrations alongside water bodies,
but at the same time urged people to celebrate the
festival in their homes citing corona pandemic.
Prakash said that the Government reverting back its earlier decision is victory against appeasement and vote bank politics. He said, “It is people’s victory against wrong policies and decisions of the Government.”
He said that various Chhath Puja committees, Sanatan Dharma Sangathan, social organizations participated in a big move against the anti-people decision of the Hemant Government, the BJP thanks all those organisations which participated against Government decision.
The Hemant Government is engaged in imposing anti-people policies but after the opposition from different sectors of society, the Government was forced to withdraw the decision, claimed Prakash. “The BJP has been opposing the black decisions of the Government while discharging the role of a strong Opposition for the cause of common people and will do so in future too. The Congress JMM Government is so immersed in appeasement that it is continuously taking anti-people decisions,” said Prakash.
Even during Durga Puja, the Government banned the size of the idol by giving a brief argument. The fine of 1 lakh in the corona period questions the policies of the Government. The State Government is a directionless Government, in which the lack of leadership is clearly visible.
On Monday, BJP leaders, including Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal, mayor Asha Lakra, deputy mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya, MLA C.P. Singh, Kanke MLA Samri Lal and Moonchun Rai, stand in the water of Button Talab to protest against the State Government’s order banning Chhath rituals in public water bodies in Ranchi.
The Opposition BJP launched protests on the streets in many parts of the state, including capital Ranchi. Members of the ruling JMM and Congress issued separate appeals and submitted memorandums to the chief minister, asking him to reconsider the guidelines, which were issued keeping the Covid-19 pandemic in mind.
“After all, the State Government had to withdraw its Tughlaqi decree. It is a victory of the faith of the majority society. Our struggle will continue against any decision filled with the Government’s appeasement policy. The Government had created a state of doubt in the minds of millions of devotees,” Said State BJP Spokesperson Pratul
Shahdeo.
Meanwhile, Ranchi Mayor Lakra and deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya visited various ponds to assess cleanliness at Chhath ghats. Vijayvargiya said, “We visited various ponds assessing the cleanness at various ghats. The municipal body will not arrange any preparations for Chhath festival
until we receive Government directives for holding Chhath festival on ghats.”
