BJP president Rajnath Singh, during a whirlwind tour of Jharkhand, on Tuesday said the rising prices of essential commodities will be controlled in six to 12 months if the party comes to power at the Centre.

“We do not promise that price hike will be controlled in one month but it will be controlled in six to 12 months,” he said while addressing a rally in Koderma, seeking votes for party nominee and BJP state president Ravindra Rai.

Singh addressed five rallies in different parts of the State, including Daltonganj, latehar and Ramgarh a day before BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold Bharat Vijay rally in Palamu and Koderma. He also held an interactive session with the intellectuals in Ranchi.

He said “It was the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government which controlled prices for six continuous years. We ask Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh why prices of essential commodities increase when the Congress comes to power at the CentreIJ” He blamed the wrong polices of the central government and corruption as reasons for price rise.

Ranjnath also made a spirited appeal to people to give a clear mandate to the party to ensure development of the State.Knowing well that candidates put by various regional parties, including JMM, JVM and AJSU have queered the pitch for the BJP candidates, Singh, at a public meeting in Palamu’s Hussainabad, said that the regional outfits cannot bring development to the State.

“Welfare of the State cannot be done by the Government if formed with the help of the regional parties,” Rajnath said, while making a fervent appeal to the voters to cast their votes for the BJP candidate VD Ram.
