The State BJP has gone for wider consultation on the land issue by involving host of Ministers, MlAs and senior party leaders to handle and fittingly respond to the barrage of attacks coming from the Opposition in this regard. In a workshop called on Friday also saw Advocate General Ajit Kumar briefing the participants at length about pros and cons of the amendments done into the land Acquisition Act, 2013 by the State Government through the Bill in 2017.

The AG in his address said that the age old Act about land acquisition was meant to setup industries but could not deal with rehabilitation of displaced properly. “Present simplification into the UPA’s time land Acquisition Act, 2013 has been done by the State Government which was as per the need and to expedite the pace of development. There is a provision of SIA in the Section-10 and the since it was a time taking process it has been simplified only for Government schemes. This would facilitate raiyats in getting compensation quickly. No other change has been done into the Act,” said Ajit Kumar and later also answered the quarries of the party men.

Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravansi, MlAs Vimla Pradhan, Radha Krishna Kishore, Manish Jaiswal, Biranchi Narayan, Hare Krishna Singh, Raj Sinha, Yogeshwar Mahto Batul were among the listeners. Also present there was BJP State president and MP laxman Gilua who told the leaders and workers to take the positives of the provisions among the people in order to ‘defeat misleading forces.’

“We have to take the facts about the Bill to the people and defeat the attempts of the misleading forces. The Government has done this to simplify the Act and to speed up development. No interference is done to the soul of the Act. It would ensure time bound compensation to be paid to the land losers,” said Gilua.

He also rapped the Opposition terming it anti-development and reiterated the commitment of his party towards growth. “Jharkhand is to take strides on the path of development and thus the simplifications were necessary,” said the State president. He also

talked about patthalgari while pulling the anti-national forces up for distorting it. BJP State general secretary Deepak Prakash along with spokesperson Pratul Sahdeo and other were present.

later, Sahdeo went on criticising leader of Opposition Hemant Soren for his statement opposing the proposal to deny benefits of reservation to those tribals who have converted. “Tribals of Jharkhand have managed to preserve their cultural heritage even under

colonial regimes and when the Government wants to provide complete benefits of reservation to them, the JMM is opposing this under sheer appeasement. This shows the JMM is against traditional tribals of the State,” said the spokesperson.

He also defended the AG attending the meeting with the BJP members on land amendment and said that the judicial officer was duty bound to clear the air on the basis of the Constitutional provisions. Sahdeo again sought replies from Hemant Soren on several questions asked by the BJP about his property purchases and role of his brother Basant Soren into a stone mining scam come into light at Pakur.
