In a bizarre incident, BJP activists from Ghodabanda unit of the saffron party on Saturday dumped garbage at the entrance of residence of Tata Motor’s plant head AB lal in protest against company’s inactive approach to provide civic amenities at the basti areas situated near the plant.

Scores of BJP activists led by Jitendra Rai, president of Ghodabandha unit of BJP, spilled the garbage at the gate that included cow dung at the Nildih located residence of the plant head. The walls of the residence were spoiled with cow dung. The security personnel though tried to stop the activists but could not succeed.

“We had given an ultimatum to the company to provide civic amenities to the bastis located near the plant but the company failed to take any action. The welfare of the people is our priority and we will fight for it,” said Jitendra Rai.

He said that despite repeated requests the authorities failed to listen to their complaint. People are suffering due to the want of immediate action. Not only has the standard of civic services provided by the company had deteriorated but the areas of the services has also been limited to the company command area only.

“Our demand is that the company should also provide services like pure drinking water, maintenance of roads, cleanliness and better drainage system in non-company areas too for greater and better Jamshedpur,” noted another activist.

Meanwhile, though the local police reached the spot but it was late and the activists had spilled the garbage before.

When contacted, a Tata Motors official slammed at the activists and said that this was not the way to seek demands. He said that the party activists have given a memorandum of demand and the company will take a call on the demands.
