The blueprint for the development plan of the Pahari temple prepared by a Gujarat-based architect and his team, who suggested using stone to construct the temple, has been rejected by members of the Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti saying that the design is too heavy for the hillocks of the temple.

Now, the responsibility has been handed over to the architects of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra in collaboration with architects of Metallurgical and Engineering Consultants (MECON) limited. The blueprint earlier drawn up by the young architects of BIT Mesra was turned down due to some technical problems by Ranchi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vinay Kumar Choubey who also happens to be the Chairman of the Samiti. later the responsibility was shifted on the a Gujarat based architect and his team by the Samiti.

HOD of Architect Department in BIT Mesra Manjri Chakraverti said, “The structural issue of the main temple is very complicated as the hillocks of the temple is around 600-900 millions old and wobbly. We along with MECON architects are expecting to come up with better and effective proposal this time.”

The rock samples of the temple had been collected and have been sent for further testing in the laboratory.

However, according to the architects in order to construct a rigid structure it is essential to first construct a reckoning wall across the hill. The construction of 2.50 thousand feet high wall has already been started. A sum of ` 4 crore has also been sanctioned for the same.

“After much hue and cry over the rejuvenation project plan of Pahari Mandir the Samiti has decided to hand over the responsibility back in the hands of young architects of BIT Mesra. We have pointed out the grey areas to them and are hopeful to come up with desired result at the end,” said Samiti member Arun Jain.

The project was scheduled to be completed in three phases. In first two phases the beautification and site development work was to be undertaken. At present, the temple is undergoing repair and beautification work. It offers facilities like Automated Teller Machine (ATM), lED Screen and temporary accommodation for devotees.

Meanwhile, the project of preparing vermicompost out of Belpatra is being carrying out in full swing. The first production of vermicompost which was around 10 tonnes was utilised on Pahari Mandir.
