Birth, death certificates pendency on rise at RMC

After the recent re-arrangement to shift the center for getting birth and death certificates from Pragya Kendra to Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) there is pendency of the certificates.

Notably, the provision of getting the birth/death certificates from Pragya Kendra is now shifted to Ranchi Municipal Corporation, Sadar Hospital, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Community Health Center, Namkum.

“With the change in setup and software, the staffs authorised for the task RMC are overburdened with the work and the staffs are yet to get fully acquainted with the software. This is main reason that the certificates are not being delivered on time,” said, RMC Health Officer, Dr Kiran Kumari.

Staff crunch is another prime reason for birth and death certificates pendency. However, the officials at RMC have assured that the technical glitches have been resolved. “Due to admission rush in schools, there was a heavy load on CRS software but now it has been addressed. Since, the center at RIMS and Sadar Hospital are yet to become fully operational, here at RMC, people are coming from these areas as well and have overburdened us with the work,” added Kumari.

Few city residents have even claimed that deputy registrar is not present on time to sign the documents.

On this, Kumari said that in the absence of deputy registrar, certificates at present are being signed by her and all attempts are being made for the early disposal of the cases.

She further stated that within a week all issues will be addressed as the new setup with all equipments have been installed and files too are being processed on time. Request has been sent for additional assistant on the counter too.
