Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park earned a revenue collection of Rs3,59,616 this January 1, which was around Rs3 lakh last year. Zoo officials claimed it as a lucky beginning of 2014. As a result of this turn over, the zoo is presently being thronged by huge crowd.
“This much of revenue is an achievement for our zoo. We usually gain revenue between Rs40,000 to Rs50,000 during national holidays. In this Republic Day on January 26, we hope to earn a revenue of Rs2 lakhs,” zoo veterinary specialist Dr Ajay Kumar said.
The zoo located in Ormanjhi block is known to receive maximum population in the National Wildlife Week which begins fromOctober 2 every year. The zoo officials quoted, “This Wildlife Week is a free entry moment for the school children. It is a good sign that large number of school children from Ranchi and nearby areas visits our zoo and learn about the existing inmates.”
According to sources, the zoo is gaining mass attraction with the group concession ticket discount. From December 31 to January 2, the ticket charges for per child above 11 years are Rs20 and for adult it is Rs30. On other days of the year, a ticket for a child is Rs10 and Rs 20 for adult respectively.
“These days the crowd of children is more near the enclosures of monkey and crocodile. On the other hand, adults are seen more near the enclosures of lion, tiger and elephants. All these five inmates have both female and male species. May be this is the reason of more crowd at the mentioned areas,” a zoo caretaker said.
