Three motorcycle-ridden criminals snatched Rs10 lakh from a bank manager in Kathitand area on Monday. Bramhanand Pandey, bank manager with Umedanda branch of Allahabad Bank, was taking the money to his branch in a car with his driver when the unidentified criminals took it from him on gunpoint.
Pandey had withdrawn the money from lalpur branch of the bank and was transporting it to his branch when robbers forced the car to stop and, threatening him with a pistol, made him give up the money.
After being robbed, Singh arrived at Ratu police station, barely 50 metres away from the point of incident, and reported the incident. Police forces have begun investigation to trace the whereabouts of the culprits in this robbery.
“We have received footage from CCTV cameras installed close to where the incident happened and it is being checked in order to identify the culprits. They are being traced,” stated Superintendent of Police (Rural) Raj Kumar lakra. After examining their modus operandi, it can be said that the snatchers were following Pandey for a long time, lakra added.
Notably, robbers had snatched Rs29 lakh from the manager of a non-banking finance company employee in Bariatu not more than three weeks back right outside his office building. He was moving the cash without any security measures in place.
Ranchi police offers security detail to financial and business institutions while moving money in bulk. Pandey had no security with him, nor had he informed the local police station about moving the money, said Ratu OC.
