Maga Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan hosted and felicitated Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) team in his popular TV show “Aaj Ki Raat Zindagi” which is telecast every Sunday on Star Plus channel. This show is devoted to innovative social works bringing change in lives of people and taking care of those who are in need of support.

As NBJK, a leading NGO working in Jharkhand works in collaboration with Carers Worldwide in UK, among the carers of differently abled, intellectually-disabled, epileptic and old aged family members. They facilitated and motivated their groups in Hazaribagh to work together as a community. Some selected Carers were invited by the makers of this show along with Dr. Anil Patil, founder and executive director of Carers Worldwide to join the talk show recorded some days ago.

From Hazaribagh Carers Meena Devi, Rekha Devi, Parvati Devi, all from village Maheshra and Sanjay Ram of Harli village of Sadar block of Hazaribagh district were part of NBJK team led by field supervisor Vimla Ranaand and Rajeev Singh coordinator of Carers program.

During the recording of this show, Dr. Patil and Carers were given ample opportunity to explain and describe the works before the world. They  rose their voice, agonies and also substantiated their activities on behalf of all those who care for their dependents in a silent and selfless manner. Big B, who was anchoring the show not only praised the works but also appealed to everyone to learn from their experiences.

NBJK is engaged in identifying the Carers of Hazaribagh district since last 3-4 years. It has identified 828 Carers and among them 97% are women. Most of the identified Carers live in the villages of the district and were facing many difficulties. NBJK promoted these self-help groups for internal-saving and lending and is regularly working to make their livelihood activities easier. The organisation also helps them in developing problem sharing and solving attitude in tune with their caring service.

The TV show is supposed to be aired on any Sunday in the month of December. Girija Satish and other members of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra are now more confident and are sure that this intervention will certainly act as a morale booster for all the Carers and those who are associated with this mission as well as eye-opener for the society.
