Bharatiya Suraaj Dal (BSD) today released manifesto for controlling corruption and to woo voters before Assembly Election in Jharkhand. The manifesto, first in the series of several more likely to come by the party, has been prepared keeping in view the exigencies of time to put an end to corruption. The fledgling party has vowed to bring in innovative measures to curb the greatest problem in Jharkhand.

“Whatever we are suggesting is not enough to end corruption completely. To weed out corruption we need political and electoral reforms and unless these things are done we cannot eradicate corruption completely from this country,” said president of BSD, PK Siddharth.

The BSD, on the occasion, condemned political parties for overlooking the seriousness of a corruption-free State and sitting idle despite being at the centre of power for many years. The party that transformed itself from a pressure group to a political entity has been forthright about steps that it will take to address the problem if it comes to power in the State or at the centre.

“Corruption control is the most essential measure to usher in good governance or ‘suraaj’. All parties have been parts of the various governments after the formation of the state of Jharkhand but people have discovered that during the rule of all these parties everybody from a clerk to a minister has been involved in serious corruption with very few exceptions,” stated the party through press communiqué.

The manifesto borrows heavily from corruption control measures used by different countries as well as discusses innovative measures such as relying on people to report corruption cases through valid proofs and rewarding them in case of the report being true.

Salient features of the manifesto includes taking steps to do away with the immunity granted to elected representatives for acts of corruption done inside legislature, making new law to confiscate ill-gotten properties of officers and people’s representatives, strengthening lokayukta, creating oversight body for corruption in judiciary, law for Right to Electronic Information that will ensure automatic release of information on internet, encouraging government officials to report acts of corruption of senior officers and ministers besides providing such informer immunity against punishment given to report such acts. The party has vowed to release manifesto every 10-days on an issue of public importance.
