Expressing happiness over the announcement of All India Congress Committee, President Rahul Gandhi, in which he had announced on Monday that every poor will get right of minimum income guarantee if Congress Party will come to power, party MLA and former State president Sukhdeo Bhagat said on Tuesday that it is historic decision.
Addressing a press meet Bhagat said the party is taking steps that no government has taken before in the world. The Congress party has decided to give every poor person a minimum income guarantee if it comes to power in 2019. This means each poor person in India will have minimum income and the money will be transferred into his bank account. There will be no hungry, poor people in India.”
Citing example of former economic advisor to Government of India, Arvind Subramanium, Bhagat said that he had given suggestion of Universal Basic Income Scheme in 2016-17 but Prime Minister (PM), Narendra Modi and Finance Minister (FM), Arun Jaitely had not paid attention on his suggestion. Criticising the PM and the FM he said that they are only thinking about friends of corporate world.
Rahul Gandhi always fulfills his announcement as in three States Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan he has not taken more than 10 days in loan waiver schemes similarly, he will not take long time to implement minimum income guarantee scheme.
Lauding work done by previous Congress Government Bhagat said, “During 2004 to 2014 the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government had uplifted 14 crore people from below poverty line. It is first rights of poor on the resources of India. The party has started its effort in this direction. In country like India where disparity persist in large numbers this scheme will be very effective.”
