A team of Bengal police picked up a 42-year old man after raiding a house on Road No 12-A in West Zakirnagar under Azadnagar police station in Mango in the wee hours of Thursday. Sources informed that the arrested person might have links with a terror outfit.
The arrested person has been identified as Shish Mehboob and was a civil contractor in Jamshedpur.
Though the Bengal police have arrested Mehboob in connection with a theft case registered with the Baguiati police station in Dumdum in Kolkata sources in the police revealed that it was not mere a case of theft and the accused was a prize catch for the police.
Senior Superintendent of Police, East Singhbhum Amol V Homkar confirmed that a team of Bengal police arrested a man in connection with a theft case registered with the Baguiati police station.
"We have been told that Mehboob was wanted in connection with a theft case. We cannot say anything else than this," said Homkar while talking to the newsmen.
But a senior police officer said that Mehboob's arrest might be linked to the blast in Bandwan district of Bengal that took place recently.
"We cannot say much we are not aware exactly why this man Shish Mehboob has been picked up from Jamshedpur, but he has been sent to the Detective Department in Vidhan Nagar for interrogation," said a senior officer at the Baguiati police station.
