BEd students stage protest for scholarship in NPU

Published on:

Scholarship to BEd students gave a miss in Palamu. The BEd students

did not get their scholarship this outgone financial year. On Friday

BEd students staged a protest demanding their scholarship which is now

as per their version is over due and too delayed.

The BEd students gathered at the gate of the collectorate in Palamu

and narrated their woes. Sources said the BEd students blame the

colleges and the affiliating university the Nilamber Pitamber

university for their mess. Registrar, NPU, Dr Rakesh Kumar said the

NPU has not much role in the payment for the scholarship.

Pro vice chancellor Dr Deepnarayan Yadav said the students are of the

session 2020 - 22. Everyone knows how 2020 and 2021 years were

devastated by the Coronavirus.

PVC Yadav said we conducted their practical examinations under the

directive of the UGC and then their results were declared.

Yadav added the students should have pursued their scholarship on the

basis of their results which were declared weeks ahead of the end of

the financial year 2021 - 22.

BEd coordinator Jagdamba Singh said the colleges had issued bonafide

certificates to them which is a prime requisite for the award for the

scholarship.

A BEd student to avail of the scholarship has to obtain and produce

two bonafide certificates one in each session of the two years BEd

course.

There are 14 BEd colleges affiliated to this university.

Much of what the BEd students claim not to have their scholarship and

what the NP university or its BEd co-ordinator explains, the fact of

the matter remains the students remained without scholarship for one

academic session here in the NP university affiliated BEd colleges.
