The three-member team of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday completed inspection of facilities at JSCA (Jharkhand State Cricket Association) Stadium. The team arrived for inspecting facilities at the stadium following a request made by JSCA to award the status of test venue to it.
The team comprising BCCI Treasurer, Anirudh Chaudhary, General Manager Cricket Operations MV Sreedhar and Director Broadcast Services J Rico had arrived on Tuesday to ascertain whether the infrastructure at JSCA Stadium is suitable for organising five-day test match. The team inspected the ground, conditions and broadcast infrastructure besides facilities at the sports complex. It will submit its report to the secretary of BCCI.
“There is a due process that will be followed after the report is submitted to the Secretary,” pointed out Chaudhary adding “The infrastructure here is good.” Interestingly, the report that will be submitted to Secretary is likely to be discussed in the BCCI’s Working Committee’s meeting scheduled later in this week. The JSCA president Amitabh Chaudhary is also likely to attend the meeting.
“If the test status is granted to JSCA then it will be the first stadium to get the status within a year of organising first one day international,” maintained Chaudhary. Incidentally, the BCCI is said to be exploring other venues elsewhere in the country for organising test matches. The visiting members are likely to visit Odhisha to inspect test match venues there.
