It might sound astonishing but is true that neither the police department nor the authorities of BBMK University have taken action against a college principal, against whom the National Women’s Commission (NWC) has asked to initiate legal action.
The NWC has sent a reminder to the Superintendent of police (SP) Dhanbad in this regards and has directed to comply to the directive of the commission within one month time since issuance of the reminder letter .The reminder has been sent since both the BBMKU and police failed to take action on an earlier directive of the commission.
The complain has been made by a lady teacher of Sindri College against college principal Ajit Kumar. The lady professor has levelled charges of harassment at work place, mental harassment, right to live with dignity and defamation charges on the college principal.
The lady professor had first urged the vice- chancellor of the University in month of April to initiate action against principal. She also had made a complaint to the chancellor -cum- governor against the college principal but seeing no action taken she filed complaint with the NWC.
The NWC had sent its first letter to SP Dhanbad on June 5. Records of SP office suggest that the letter was sent to BBMKU headquarters on same day for taking action against the college principal but even after a month’s time when the commission failed to get replay, it has sent reminder in this regards and has directed to send action taken report within 30 days.
The reminder letter too has been sent to BBMKU authorities for compliance.
Attempts to contact BBMKU registrar by phone and through SMS message to get the actual status of the NCW letter failed despite several attempts.
