Barnwal appeals for plantation

Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sunil Kumar Barnwal, planted saplings on Thursday and encouraged citizens to also come forward and plant a sapling each to conserve the environment.

Participating in a plantation programme organised by Jharkhand Urja Sancharan Nigam Ltd (JUSNL) at Kusai Colony under Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Barnawal said, "The forest area of State has increased to 33.3 per cent due to the continuous efforts of State Government. We have to increase it further and this can be done only with the help and support of the public."

Taking a stroll down the memory lane, Barnwal said that in 2015 he had planted Gulmohar Saplings in Kusai Colony along with CM Raghubar Das. "Today it’s giving me immense happiness to see those saplings grow into trees after four years," he said.

Barnawal appealed to the public to plant at least one sapling each as it very much needed for pure and clean environment.

"This will help us give a better life to our future generations," he said.

The principal Secretary to CM informed that the State Government is organising Jal Shakti Abhiyan from July 1 to August 15 under which plantation drive is being organised on the banks of 44 rivers across the State.

"Our CM has spread awareness about conservation of environment by doing Shramdaan (labour work) and plantations and we should all start doing this," he said.

Managing Director of JUSNL Niranjan Kumar, MD Finance Rajendra Agarwal and other officers were present on the occasion.
