Jharkhand State Bar Council on Monday filed a Public Interest litigation (PIl) in the Jharkhand High Court demanding security inside the court campuses all over the state. The court of acting Chief Justice PK Mohanty and Justice Ananda Sen has asked the State Government to reply before January 5.

“We have demanded safety, security and minimum infrastructure inside all the sub-ordinate courts and High Court as such incidents of shootout occurs again and again in the presence of lawyers and litigants. In such circumstances, there is always a possibility of casualty inside the courts,” said Bar Council Member Nilesh Kumar. The court was also requested to issue guidelines in this regard so that such incidents could be avoided inside the court campuses, he added.

“The bar council through this PIl, also demanded boundary walls around each of the court campuses across the State,” said the Bar Council Member.

In a shocking incident in the Jamshedpur court campus, former JMM leader and city businessman Upendra Singh was shot dead on Thursday last by aides of gangster Akhilesh Singh whom he had allegedly conspired to kill at the same place a year ago.
