Bandhu threatens to pull out of Govt on domicile issue

Mandar MlA Bandhu Tirkey on Wednesday indirectly threatened to pull out of the State Government on the question of domicile and reservation in Government jobs seeking concrete steps in the direction by the end of June.

The Mandar MlA was addressing a thin gathering at a rally called by Adivasi-Moolwasi Janadhikar Manch. The rally called by Adivasi-Moolwasi Janadhikar Manch was supported by Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch and other organisations in support of the domicile policy. “If the State Government fails to honour demands of domicile policy by June 27 I will resign and seek election in the State,” said Tirkey.

Interestingly, Tirkey who is also in the domicile drafting committee criticised Hemant Soren Government for not implementing cent per cent reservation in Class III, IV jobs and accused successive Governments of dragging its feet over domicile policy. He also cornered other political parties by alleging them to be ignorant about rights of Adivasis and Moolwasi’s of the State.

“Poor people educate their children however there is no job for them. This Government has sold Government jobs to outsiders and our people are forced to migrate in search of jobs,” added Tirkey. The rally that witnessed lower turnout compared to earlier rallies provided platform to different communities domiciled in the State. The Moolwasi also raised their voice for a pro-community policy and preference in State Government’s jobs.

Notably, the Draft Committee on Domicile is said to be considering the proposal of filling up vacancies in Government departments by people domiciled in the area. The rally that also received support from Adivasi-Moolwasi Chatra Morcha asked the Government to implement CNT and SPT Act besides delegating powers to panchayats to establish rights of Adivasi on the properties.
