Infuriated tribal organisations have called two-day Jharkhand bandh against the BJP proposing the name of a non-tribal as Chief Minister in Jharkhand. Members of various tribal organisations marched towards Firayalal Chowk and burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah on Friday.
"This is totally against the tradition of this State, which was formed in the interest of Adivasi-Moolvasi of this State," said tribal leader Prem Shahi Munda. In spite of making a tribal Chief Minister they have proposed an outsider for the post, added Munda.
Munda said that by making a non-tribal CM, the BJP is trying to create anarchy in the State. Bandh on Saturday and Sunday will be historical, he added.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has also extended moral support to the bandh. Party general secretary Vinod Pandey said that the JMM has decided to support the bandh in principle. Munda, also claimed that other tribal organisations have also extended support to make the bandh successful. The list includes the names — Adivasi Sarna Parishad, Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Mahasabha, Raji Padha Prarthana Sabha, Kendriya Sarna Samiti etc.
Notably, the MCCI, a Maoist outfit, has also called a 24-hour bandh in Jharkhand starting from the midnight of Friday to midnight of Saturday.
