In an attempt to display solidarity with the agitating farmers at Singhu Border of National Capital Delhi, the State's Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Badal visited the spot on 31 December on the last day of the year 2020 and joined the movement of farmers.
After reaching Delhi, Badal reached the Singhu border late night to participate in the ongoing agitation of farmers. The Agriculture Minister spent the whole night agitating farmers.
Speaking on occasion, he said that it is not good when a large number of farmers are agitating for their rights in bitter cold and we celebrate the arrival of New Year.
“At 12 o'clock when the whole country was engulfed in celebrations, at that time, Agriculture Minister Badal Sindhu was celebrating the New Year in a tent with farmers on the border. He said that the framers of the Country are against the Central Government. In such a situation, the Government should take appropriate decisions while respecting the farmers' view. The Country will not tolerate any injustice with farmers,” he added.
"The moral support of the Jharkhand government and the Congress party is with the farmers and they are fully with the farmers in this movement. The Central Government should fulfill the demand of farmers without delay," said Badal.
The Minister also discussed the development of agriculture with farmers till late night. Government of Jharkhand is striving day and night to uplift, develop and double the income of farmers, he added.
The farmers' protest at border points of New Delhi has entered its sixth week. The Government and farmer unions reached some common ground to resolve the protesting farmers' concerns over a rise in power tariff and penalties for stubble burning, but the two sides remained deadlocked over the main contentious issues of the repeal of three farm laws and a legal guarantee for MSP.
