A letter bomb allegedly written by JVM (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha) supremo Babulal Marandi has stunned the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) making the latter to register a complain with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India.
The letter addressed to pastors of all churches and undersigned by Marandi mentions a verse of Bible and makes a “request” to all pastors however the letter stops short of the nature of the request put forth by the signatory, as per the JMM. Notwithstanding the lack of clarity regarding the request, the JMM has alleged that the JVM supremo is a habitual trouble maker and the letter more than anything signifies desperation borne out of fear to lose election.
“We got hold of the letter yesterday. We have filed complain today and will follow it up tomorrow to know what action has been initiated against Babulal ji. But he (Babulal) often does these kinds of things be it making people clash on the issue of domicile or stirring up religious passion which is clear from the letter,” said JMM Spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya.
The letter that JMM has forwarded to CEC is written on a paper without letterhead and official seal of the party supremo. The JVM supremo is contesting against JMM patriarch Shibu Soren in Dumka, which will go to polls on April 24.
The JVM on its part pooh-poohed the JMM’s claim and rallied behind its leader. The JVM although maintained diplomatically correct stand, questioned veracity of the letter allegedly written by Marandi to all pastors.
