It is unfortunate that even after six years of Right to Education Act in effect most of the people are unaware about it. Awareness is necessary for success of this ambitious law made by the Government with an aim to give equal opportunity to every section of society to get educated,” said Commissioner of North Chotanagpur division Surendra Singh Meena in a workshop organised at Hazaribagh on Thursday.
Earlier, Commissioner SS Meena and DC Mukesh Kumar inaugurated the divisional level workshop on RTE by lighting the lamp. Addressing the officials of education department of all the seven districts and social activists working for RTE he said that in ancient time the wards of both king and common people use to live together in gurukuls getting same treatment from the teachers who too live with them.
The time has changed, now there are schools, not affordable even for middle class families. In this changed scenario Government brought this bill which can fill the gap, if implemented successfully. We need to work on its implementation keeping the consciousness of human touch above all, Meena added.
DC Mukesh Kumar talked about the specialties and parameters of right to education act which guaranties free and compulsory education to every child. He said that the plight of students from schools and behavior of private schools are the big hurdles of the path of RTE and we will have to remove these hurdles with both passion and lesson.
Various participants of the workshop used this opportunity to clear their doubts on some parts of this law the experts gave a detailed account of RTE to the participants. The experts also informed the participants about the changed menu of mid day meal. Sanjay Mishra of Jharkhand education project anchored the program; DSC Shivendra Kumar welcomed the guests and gave an account of the topic of the workshop.
