DGP DK Pandey has said that the Palamu Tiger Reserve officials should name top Maoists in the FIR lodged in elephant’s death near Budha Pahar area. On September 20, a young male elephant died in Maoists’ land mine explosion at latu forest.
The DGP describing the death of the elephant as “murder by Maoists” said, “PTR officials are armed with Acts like Forest Act and Wild life Protection Act. They should name Maoists Arvind, Vishwanath and others. Naming them will expose these people like anything.”
Pandey said that an atmosphere be built up against these Maoists who, for their lives, have laid these death traps in the house of the wild life in which our State animal fell a prey to their sinister device and design.
“When a Maoist does a heinous crime as this one, no lips are opened. There are numerous people ranging from civil liberties association to human rights groups who profess not to have heard anything foul done by Maoists. But where police engage maoists or naxals contingent in encounter or fight all fingers just go up in the air. I wish all sensible citizens cutting across lines stand for this murdered elephant,” he added.
On being asked why they not smoke out the outlawed from Burha Pahar area, the DGP said, “We conduct intermittent operations against them. It is done with all ferocity. Arvind’s head is worth one crore. Either he surrenders or dies fighting with us. We fight with such outlawed and the PTR officials rush to High Court telling it that because of our presence in the region their wild life is fleeing from there. About some 15 or 20 years back their many forest buildings/quarters/guard houses were demolished by the extremists but there has been since then no attempt to re build the demolished ones. This should be done.”
