The shopkeepers of Atal Vendor Market of the State Capital have called off their strike on Tuesday. A meeting was held with Additional Municipal Commissioner, Kunwar Singh Pahan and members of the Town Vending Committee, after which the shopkeepers took this decision.

The shopkeepers said that in the meeting, orders have been received to put up banners hanging on both the sides of the shops. After this the strike was called off. On Wednesday, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Kunwar Singh Pahan himself will come and inspect.

On Monday, after reaching the vendor market, the municipal body team started cutting fines from the shopkeepers, when the shopkeepers protested fiercely. After this the shopkeepers went on indefinite strike. It may be mentioned here that the shopkeepers of the vendor market have gone on strike even a week ago in support of their demands. About 400 shops are located in the vendor market.

The shopkeepers had also accused the enforcement team of the civic body of illegal recovery from the shopkeepers. The shopkeepers say that the employee of the corporation, Abdul makes illegal recovery from the shopkeepers and complains about the shopkeepers who do not give money to the corporation.

Akhtar, a member of the Town Vending Committee, said that the corporation has given shops to run a livelihood. “The shops have been open for three years in the vendor market but the Municipal Corporation never received any complaint. Now only some shopkeepers have complained. Clothes are such a thing that what is seen is sold. The shops will not run if the hanging banner is not installed. The municipal corporation has given permission to put up banners on both sides of the shop, after which the shopkeepers of the vendor market withdrew their strike,” he added.
