Considering inept security situation prevailing in several pockets of Jharkhand which often perceived as the biggest deterrent for investment, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham) has shown Israeli way to the Government. The premier business conglomerate of the country has offered the State Government to become a partner in the field for preparing ground for industries to come.
“We all know that the State should have been a pivot for industry and mining activities of the country, but it is not. Besides others issues, homeland security has been the major one. The Chamber is working with Israel on this and a delegation of ours is going to visit there later this year. I have requested the Chief Minister to become a partner that would considerably mitigate security concerns of the investors coming to the State,” said Sunil Kanoria, president of the organisation after meeting Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Thursday.
The security setup of Israel is known for its excellent precession and execution against counter-terrorism due to its intelligence agency Mossad. The Assocham feels that similar security apparatus is required in the State in order to prepare an ambience for investors.
“Cooperation with Israel in security is not the only area where we can work together. I have suggested the Jharkhand Government to take help of the country in sharing advanced technology for agricultural practices, seed upgradation, irrigation etc for the benefit of the State,” added Kanoria.
This apart, the industry body has also mooted a proposal in its meeting with the Chief Minister for creation of an one-time 10,000 crore infrastructure development fund jointly with the Centre. “The State needed investment to come into road, irrigation, power transmission and healthcare sectors. This is going to have multiplier effect for the entire gamut with lots of employment opportunity coming and other sectors growing. Besides, we have suggested to work for women entrepreneurship which is going to provide lot of stability in the rural areas,” said Kanoria, flanked by Assocham secretary general DS Rawat.
Moreover, the association expressed its dissatisfaction over the journey so far in the State. “Particularly in last 4-5 years mining and power sectors have been the biggest losers in Jharkhand. Most of the projects coming here because of mineral and other natural resources have stuck midway and investors are losing their money.
