Assistant police personnel of Jharkhand Police, who have been agitating for regularization of their job intensified their agitation on Monday when they marched towards the CM residence and the Raj Bhavan to hold a demonstration.
But they were prevented and pushed back by Ranchi police after senior officials of district police and administration persuaded and convinced them that the state government is serious to resolve their issues.
Protesters returned to Morabadi ground where they pitched their tent two days back resolving to fight for their right.
Authorities registered an FIR against 20 named and 1000 unnamed assistant police personnel later in the evening for violating the prohibitory order clamped by the administration.
Around 2500 assistant police personnel from 12 rebel hit districts of Jharkhand are demonstrating for their regularization.
Three years back they were appointed on contractual basis and they said that they were assured that their job will be regularized if their performance is found satisfactory. They alleged that while their contract period is going to conclude the government has not taken any step for renewal of their contract and the process for job regularization. They were appointed to support regular police in maintaining law and order.
They alleged that they were prevented by police from reaching Ranchi to participate in the agitation.
The BJP looking for an issue to target the Hemant Soren led government criticised the government and termed it insensitive towards the cause of people.
Former chief minister and BJP leader Babulal Marandi on Sunday visited them at the ground and extended his support. Marandi said that the party will raise their issue during the monsoon session of the assembly that is set to start from September 18.
“They are equally duteous like regular police and I have seen them discharging their duty with honesty. There is nothing wrong if they are speaking and holding demonstrations for their rights. It is unfair on the part of the government to gag their voice and to ignore their demands,” said Marandi.
