Schools across Jharkhand affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) can heave a sigh of relive as they can now effectively implement school-based assessment (SBA) system based on the pattern of the board. A privately owned company on Wednesday launched the assessment tool in Jharkhand.

The assessment tool is a part of the Comprehensive & Continuous Evaluation (CCE) system, CBSE’s ambitious project to promote internal assessment of students.

The present method of assessment is termed unreliable as it is based on the performance of a student at one point of time instead of continuous evaluation through different methods in a particular field. The assessment tool is touted as the enabling standardization of the evaluation process at all CBSE affiliated schools.

“It happens that a school sends the grade to CBSE but fails to provide any justification for the grade awarded. This solution is the outcome of the method under question. ,” said Kumar Jyoti Bhushan, Project Head of the company in Jharkhand.

The assessment tool will be provide the facility of self-evaluation to a student as well as could help a teacher in framing assessment paper on any subject. Significantly, the assessment tool is claimed to help standardization of the processes across affiliated schools and improve the flow of information between the board and schools. Offline and online mode of evaluation are among the salient features of the tool.
