Alerted over the rampage to be created by the protesters during bandh called by Opposition parties on Friday, Senior SP Kuldeep Dwivedi directed officials in Ranchi to keep a close eye on protesters and arrest them as soon as they take to the streets during bandh on December 2. SSP was holding a meeting with the DSPs and OCs of all police stations in Ranchi on Tuesday to deal with the protesters during the daylong bandh called by Adivasi-Moolwasi organizations against the recently passed CNT SPT Amendment Act passed in the Assembly on November 23.
“Police will not wait for the protesters to reach Albert Ekka Chowk but will be arrested them wherever they spotted taking to the streets,” said Sadar DSP and Ranchi Police Spokesperson Vikas Chandra Srivastava. Mock drill was also performed in police lines where the officers were trained in firing tear gas and spraying water cannons on the crowed, said the DSP.
The SSP also asked the OCs and DSPs to perform mock drill in their respective areas, he said. The administration will also put barricading at various locations so that movement of crowed could be checked in the city.
“The OCs also have been asked to identify barricading points in their areas and submit a report to the SSP by Wednesday so that the required preparations could be done by December 1,” said the DSP.
To deal with the protesters strictly during bandh on Friday, some tribal hostels have also been identified which are vulnerable to any such activities.
“Some of the tribal hostels in Ranchi will also be cordoned off not allowing anyone to come out of it or go into it during the bandh,” the DSP said.
To check students taking part in the bandh, a meeting was also held at the office of ADM law and Order with the wardens of all tribal hostels in Ranchi directing them not to allow their students to take part in any such activity.
“They were also told to convince their students for not taking part in such activities,” said ADM law and Order Girija Shankar Prasad.
The hostel administration will also have to prepare a database of the students living in it and submit it to the concerned police stations within 15 days, he said.
Warders were also directed to make identity proof mandatory for admitting any student in their hostels. It must have the profile of each and every student living in these hostels, said the ADM.
Meanwhile the SSP asked police officers to pray for warrant against whom FIR have been lodged in different police stations for the rampage created on Mahatma Gandhi Marg on November 25.
“Efforts will also be made to expel the leaders from the district who were leading the crowed while the Mahatma Gandhi Road was being ransacked in Ranchi on Friday,” said the DSP
. The OCs were also asked to issue notices of Section 107 of IPC to those who are found indulged in any rampage during the bandh.
