The issue of providing armed cops to the pro vice chancellor of NPU Dr Deep Narayan Yadav hangs in balance over the last three months or so.
Sources said the armed cop serving as bodyguard to the pro vice chancellor Yadav was closed following a decision taken at the District Safety Advisory Committee.
However, the pro-vice chancellor kept persuading the DC and the SP for the restoration of his armed police body guard but in vain.
Speaking to the Pioneer Yadav said he does not understand as to why his armed cop was closed when he has to handle an unruly crowd of the students every day and during the examination period he has more tense moments. He said he deserves to have a police bodyguard.
DC Shashi Ranjan said we have decided to restore his armed cop as bodyguard and also assured that he would have a talk about it with the SP Chandan Kumar Sinha.
The DC evaded a direct question as to when this restoration of the armed cop would be done to the pro vice chancellor.
SP Chandan Kumar Sinha on the other hand said we have more pressing issues on hand and thus this matter of providing body guard to the pro-vice chancellor may be taken up at some more opportune time.
